CDL Driver Trainee/Laborer
Driver/Laborers operate trash/recycling trucks on assigned routes and collect trash/recycling from both residential and commercial sources.
Job Type: Full-time, Bargaining unit (Union)
8 hour shift, Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm.
Starting base pay $18.00 per hour plus $2.00 per hour attendance bonus
$2,000 annual CDL bonus
Required Skills:
Valid Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
Be on-time
Be able to read, write, and comprehend route information
Be able to pass a DOT physical and pass a DOT drug and alcohol screening
Be able to lift at least 50 - 75 lbs throughout the work day
Work weekends, overtime, and early shifts as needed
Work in inclement weather in an outdoor environment
Other Prefered Skills/Certifications/Experience:
Mechanic
Operate Equipment to include, but not limited to;
Forklift
Manlift
Skid steer loaders

Driver/Laborers operate trash/recycling trucks on assigned routes and collect trash/recycling from both residential and commercial sources.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Follow safe operating practices and procedures
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times as required
Work in a fast paced team environment
Serve customers and treat them respectfully
Drive and operate rear-load compactor trucks, split-body trucks, straight trucks, and roll-off trucks
Load and unload trash/recycling into trucks from dumpsters and trash/recycling cans
Perform daily equipment checks and maintenance including cleaning, greasing, and reporting maintenance issues
Clean up around trash/recycling collection sites and around the Material Recovery Facility (MRF)
Submit weight and volume data for commercial customers
Assist with the maintenance of electronic route sheets
Submit extra bag and special haul data for billing
Sort recycling in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF)
Complete all other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Education and Communications Coordinator
Summary:
The Education and Communications Coordinator implements strategic communications programs and initiatives to improve the public visibility of AHRC and local zero waste efforts, as well as execute social media campaigns to educate the region about waste management and expand our community presence on online platforms. Primary duties will be to develop strategies for the promotion of recycling, including identifying target audiences and the most effective methods of reaching them. You'll also be in charge of reaching out to subject matter experts, potential partners, and key influencers to build connections, secure partnerships and collaborations. Reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Implement strategic programs and initiatives designed to improve the public visibility of AHRC
- Conduct tours of the recycling and compost facilities
- Presentations to groups/schools about recycling and compost
- Educate the public and our customers about recycling
- Create, review, and edit promotional materials to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications materials
- Oversee content creation and design of promotional materials and press releases for media and target audiences about recycling and composting
- Data Analytics that assist with content creation as well as measuring the success of outreach programs and internal processes
- Execute social media campaigns on online platforms
- Manage and maintain the company’s website
- Reach out to businesses, organizations, and potential partners to build relationships and organize events that promote our products/services
- Write Bids, RFPs, and RFQs for Federal, State, Municipal and Public Institutions
- Attend and provide support for the AHRC board’s education committee
- Serve as the supervisor for all Education and Communications employees, including AmeriCorps
- Create a training and transition plan for future AmeriCorps
- Complete all other tasks assigned by the Executive Director
Required Skills:
- Be able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills
- Familiarity with spreadsheets and data analytics
- Ability to create social media content
- Skilled public speaker
Required Education:
B.A. in Communications, Public Relations, Education, or Marketing
Job Type:
M-F 8-4:30 with some flexibility, evenings and weekends as required
Supervisory position, exempt from being in the bargaining unit (non-union)
Pay:
Starting pay commensurate with experience in the $18.27/hr to $20.67/hr range with a regularly scheduled forty hour work week
