AHRC openly accepts applications for laborers/drivers with a CDL Class A or B. AHRC offers a competitive wage with benefits package for full-time employees. A CDL is not required to be hired but, must be obtained with six months.

AHRC’s mission is to Collect and process recyclable materials in the greater southeast Ohio area in order to create a cleaner, safer, and better place to live.

 


Organics Processor 
The Organics Processor manages AHRC’s compost facility and compost collection routes in Athens and Hocking counties.  Ideal candidates will have an interest in keeping food waste out of the landfill, where it creates potent greenhouse gasses, and turning it into a nutrient dense soil amendment for local farms and gardens. 

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good administrative and organizational skills

  • Must be self motivated and able to work alone

  • Must be safety conscious

  • Must be able to meet physical demands that include but are not limited to lifting up to 50lbs and work in inclement weather

  • Capable of maintaining digital records and creating reports for regulatory agencies

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to drive a truck with a trailer

  • Operate; Skid-steer loader, front-end loader, forklift, screener, shredder, and other related equipment


Required Education:

  • Degree/Certification in agricultural field of study, crop or soil science, or equivalent experience in a compost processing function, farm, or landscaping.

  • Ohio Compost Operator Education Course (or attain within probationary period)

  • Other Prefered Skills/Certifications/Experience:

  • Class B CDL

  • Previous experience with a EPA certified compost facility


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Management of compost piles including moving, temperature management, moisture management, and documentation of the process

  • Seek continuing education about composting and suggest improvements to the processes

  • Complete Daily Composting Facility Log of Operations as required by the EPA and Health Department

  • Take and log compost temperatures on a daily basis, make adjustments to active piles based on results to create optimum composting conditions

  • Monitors the leachate system

  • Note and take steps to correct compost contamination at the source

  • Screen compost as needed

  • Maintain a clean and safe compost facility

  • Take and submit testing samples for analysis lab, following

  • Provide compost customers with technical information about the compost

  • Build relationships with customers to promote composting collection and sales

  • Load and deliver finished compost

  • Create yearly EPA compost report and submit

  • Communicate with and comply with the Athens County Health Department 

  • Pickup compost on scheduled pickup days (City of Athens, residential and businesses)

  • Create & maintain efficiencies for existing routes for compost pickup

  • Collection of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) solids

  • Clean compost buckets and carts

  • Complete all other tasks assigned by the supervisor, including helping on the recycling sorting line, and with trash/recycling collection and processing as needed



Job Type: Full-time, Bargaining unit (Union)
8 hour shift, Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm.
Overtime and weekends as required
Pay: Starting base pay $15.00 - $16.50 per hour.

Laborer/CDL Driver - Description

 
AHRC is now hiring for a Laborer/CDL Class B driver for recycling and refuse routes in Athens and
Hocking Counties. This position includes working on refuse and recycling trucks, and working at processing center. AHRC operates collection routes in both counties via packer trucks and
roll-off trucks as well as operating a materials sorting facility with a throughput of over
4,000 tons per year. AHRC also has a food/organics waste collection service and operates
a Class II compost facility.

AHRC offers a competitive compensation package to full time employees. The
compensation package includes, but is not limited to;

Job Requirements
• Have or obtain (within 6 months) a valid Class B (minimum) CDL License
• Be able to pass a DOT physical as well as drug and alcohol screening
• Be able to work early shift as well as weekends
• Be able to lift at least 50 - 75 lbs throughout the work day
• Work overtime as needed
• Work in inclement weather in an outdoor environment
• Operate Equipment to include, but not limited to;
• Forklift
• Manlift
• Skid steer loaders
• Hydraulic balers
• Perform equipment maintenance including cleaning, greasing, and other routine checks
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times when required.
